Description

MPN: ANT-900-RFDFLEX1-BARE

Manufacturer: RFDesign

        Product Description:

This is one of the lightest and slimmest antennas on the market - Suitable for the 900 MHz ISM band.

It is designed to operate in free space, or stuck onto a relatively RF transparent material, eg. Foam wing, fuselage, balsa wing, thin fiberglass.

It has better than -10dB return loss when in free space, to stuck on a thick slab of EPP foam so it quite insensitive to the installation.

To use this bare antenna - a good quality coaxial cable needs to be soldered on the feed point as shown in the last image.

Use of this antenna is easy, as it has integrated feed point matching, an integrated balun for feed cable isolation and black solder resist with gold plated pads for soldering.

We have several pre-stripped RG316 cables at a few lengths to make installation easier, but you can also use one of our RPSMA extension cables cut to your desired length.

FAQ: What does the integrated balun do? :  It isolates the currents flowing on the active area of the antenna from the feed cable.  Otherwise, the RF feed cables can radiate, and carry RF energy back onto other airframe electronics.  The balun also stops common mode noise at 900MHz from airframe electronics traveling the outer shield of the coaxial cable getting onto the antenna, and into the receiver.
